Fortuity is developed and operated by Serendipity Foundry LLC ("Serendipity Foundry," "we," "us," or "our"). Fortuity is designed to work locally on your device and to collect as little information as possible.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Fortuity app, its widgets, the Fortuity support and privacy pages, or contact us for support.

Information the Fortuity App Does Not Collect

Fortuity does not require an account. The app does not transmit your Signals, Signal history, delivery schedule, notification preferences, installation identifier, or activity to Serendipity Foundry.

The app does not include third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, social networking, or account-service SDKs. It does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health information, browsing activity, or advertising identifier. We do not sell personal information or use Fortuity app activity for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Fortuity stores information on your device so that the app and its widgets can provide a consistent daily Signal. This local information may include:

  • completion of onboarding;
  • your selected daily delivery window;
  • notification-related preferences (notification authorization itself is managed by iOS);
  • the current Signal and its assigned Closing Cue;
  • scheduled and delivered Signal records, including Signal identifiers and delivery times;
  • a locally generated random installation seed used to create a distinct Signal sequence for that installation;
  • an Apple-provided identifier scoped to this developer's apps, used only on the device to determine whether the installation seed should be regenerated; and
  • a limited copy of the current schedule shared with the Fortuity widgets through an Apple App Group container.

This information is not transmitted to Serendipity Foundry. The Apple-provided identifier and installation seed are not used for advertising, analytics, tracking, or identifying you, and are not included in support messages unless you choose to provide related diagnostic information yourself.

Signal Selection and Notifications

Signals and Closing Cues are selected on your device from curated libraries included with the app. Fortuity does not use personal information, location, behavior, contacts, browsing activity, or other private data to decide which Signal you receive. The app does not attempt to determine what a Signal means or whether it is relevant to you.

If you allow notifications, Fortuity uses Apple's local-notification system to schedule Signal alerts on your device. Fortuity does not use a remote push-notification service to deliver Signals. You can change or disable notification permission at any time in your device's Settings app.

Apple controls notification delivery and may delay, summarize, silence, or suppress alerts because of device settings such as Focus, Notification Summary, or notification permissions.

Retention of Local Information

Fortuity keeps its local settings, installation seed, Signal records, and widget schedule on your device so it can preserve delivered Signals, avoid unwanted repetition, and maintain future delivery state. Delivered Signal records do not currently expire automatically. They remain in the app's local storage until the data is changed by normal app operation or removed through device-level controls.

Because Fortuity does not maintain an account or backend copy of this information, Serendipity Foundry cannot view, retrieve, restore, or remotely delete your locally stored Fortuity data.

Removing Local Information

To remove Fortuity's active local data from a device, delete the Fortuity app from that device. Offloading the app is different from deleting it: Apple's offload feature is designed to preserve an app's documents and data for a later reinstall.

Copies of Fortuity's local data may remain in an iCloud or computer device backup until that backup is replaced, expires, or is deleted according to your backup settings. Restoring a device or app from a backup may restore previously backed-up Fortuity data. You can manage device backups through your Apple account, iCloud, Finder, or other Apple-provided backup controls, as applicable.

Removing a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget removes that widget from the screen, but does not by itself delete the Fortuity app's local data. Disabling notifications stops future alerts but does not by itself delete stored Signals or preferences.

Information You Choose to Send for Support

If you contact us for support, feedback, or a privacy request, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your email address, message, screenshots or attachments, and device or app details that you include to help us understand an issue.

We use this information to respond, investigate problems, maintain the security and reliability of Fortuity, and comply with applicable legal obligations. Our email, website-hosting, and security providers may process this information on our behalf to deliver and protect those services. We do not use support communications for advertising or sell them.

We retain support communications only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain an appropriate record of the issue, protect our services, or meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete a support communication by contacting us at the address below. We will honor the request unless retention is reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or another permitted purpose.

Please do not send sensitive personal information that is not needed to resolve your request.

Website Information

When you visit a Fortuity webpage, our hosting and security providers may automatically process standard technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, and request time. This website information is separate from the local Signal data stored by the Fortuity app and is not used to select Signals.

App Store and Apple Services

Apple may process information related to your App Store account, device, download, purchase, backups, notifications, or use of Apple services under Apple's own privacy policies and terms. Serendipity Foundry does not control Apple's processing of that information.

Children's Privacy

Fortuity is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not knowingly collect personal information through the app. If a child or parent contacts us directly, we handle that communication as described in the support section above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Fortuity's features, practices, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective or last-updated date. If a change materially affects how the app handles information, we will provide additional notice when required.
